Installation Locations
There are three different location that the
installations could be placed, and I want to find the one best suited to my
idea. The different places are the booths (1-12), the small studio and the
large studio. Each have positives and negatives that will affect how my project
is received.
There are twelve different booths in the
college excluding the sound booth. Which will mean most people will be using
them to show their installation. They differ in size, but they do have enough
space to effectively display my production to the public. My only concern is
that the desk would get in the way of creating a bedroom in the booth, however
I’m sure it can be removed or incorporated into the final design. I have
already experimented with the projector in the booth and the display that it
shows is big enough. The concern was that the booth would be too small and the picture
would be tiny.
The small studio would be a good place for the
production because it is big enough to make a huge film display on the wall.
However, the installation is meant to be a representation of a simple bedroom,
so I don’t want to over fill the room and detract from the video itself.
Similarly, I wouldn’t want it to be too empty and look poor and badly though
out. There would also be a small possibility that I would have to share the
space with another student. This wouldn’t affect the final production, but
might mean I have less space than I have planned for in the production phase.
The large studio is the biggest available
space for the production. I don’t want a space this big, but it would allow my
video to be shown as huge. The walls in the studio are all different which
doesn’t appeal. They also aren’t typical of most bedrooms. The space would be
difficult to fill, resulting in it being quite empty and plain. I would also
have to share with another student if it doesn’t take up the whole space which
wouldn’t be a bad thing as the would be less pressure to take up the entire
area.
